Your 5th and final email prompt is “I was wrong about [topic]”
This type of email works really well because it’s something most people never do: admit they were wrong.
If you’ve signed up for emails from someone because of their expertise in an area, then hearing them say they were wrong about something in that field means you’re going to click through and read because you know it will be significant.
The key to this template is that:
You must genuinely have changed your mind about something
There must be a good reason for changing your mind that you can explain in the email, and
It must be relevant and related to what you normally talk about. A leadership expert saying they were wrong about Macs being better than PCs isn’t going to carry much weight.
For example, a leadership expert could write “I was wrong about empowerment” or an email marketing expert could write “I was wrong about images in emails” (which is exactly what I did recently).
Admitting you were wrong, along with a good explanation and guidance on what you now believe is a big, big credibility builder. It also shows you to be human and humble too - quite a rarity!

This one is interesting to me because it's similar to making mistakes, but not quite the same. With the travel blog I wrote for 10 years, I made SO many travel mistakes and blunders. I always wrote about them and they were almost always my most popular and widely read posts. People love seeing others screw up because then they can learn through it and not have to screw up themselves!
